Las Vegas is one of the best places in the world to visit during the month of December. Whether your idea of fun is catching one of the afternoon shows, going to a concert, or indulging your gaming spirit at the Caesars Palace casino, there’s something during a Las Vegas December for everyone.
National Finals Rodeo 2022
When you picture Las Vegas events, a rodeo might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but it’s time to change that! 2022 marks the 36th year that the National Finals Rodeo, or NFR, is being held in Las Vegas.
This 10-day event brings out the inner cowboy in everyone who attends. The Thomas and Mack Center is transformed into a rodeo from December 1st – 10th. Shuttles are available from some of the most popular hotels in the city, making it a breeze to get to this Las Vegas December event. The Westgate Las Vegas Resort, The Golden Nugget, and The Rio are just a few of the big-name hotels off the strip that offer shuttle services to the NFR.
Pack your boots, jeans, and embrace your country lovin’ side! The strip is filled with NFR themed decor and performances during the event. If you’ve never experienced this fun-filled event, there’s no better time than now!
Celebrating the Holiday’s in Las Vegas
If you’re looking for a unique way to get into the holiday spirit, Las Vegas is the place to be. There’s no shortage of holiday events and displays to see during your stay. These are a few of our favorite places to go for gorgeous holiday displays that you can only find in Vegas.
The Bellagio is a popular tourist destination because of the iconic Bellagio fountains in front of the hotel. From December 5th to January 3rd you can catch a special holiday edition of the fountain show. Shows begin at 3 PM Monday-Friday, noon on Saturdays, and 11 AM on Sundays. The best part? It’s free!
While you’re there, take a step inside the Bellagio to view the winter wonderland display at the conservatory and botanical gardens. All 14,000 square feet of the gardens are transformed with Christmas trees, twinkling lights, fresh poinsettias, and impressive displays. You can see it for yourself 24-hours a day for free from the end of November through the first week of January.
Any opportunity to save money in Las Vegas is a huge perk, so the Bellagio is the place to be this holiday season!
The LINQ Promenade offers a great guest experience all around, but it’s best known for the 550-foot Highroller observation wheel. This takes a traditional Ferris wheel to the next level. Guests ride up 550-feet into the sky in an enclosed glass bubble.
The Highroller is even more magical during the holiday season with special light displays timed to holiday music hits and a huge Christmas tree. If you’re visiting Las Vegas in December, this is a must-do activity.
Resorts World is the newest edition to the Las Vegas strip. Located at the North End of the strip, Resorts World is within walking distance of some of the best attractions in town. The inside of the resort is turned into a remarkable holiday display during December.
Guests can walk through the holiday installations 24 hours a day. This is the perfect opportunity for holiday pictures with a backdrop so gorgeous your followers will be jealous! End the night with unique holiday menus at the restaurants inside Resorts World that can only be enjoyed one month of the year.
NYE in Las Vegas
New York is widely known as the epicenter of New Year’s Eve celebrations, but Las Vegas is a close second. NYE is one of the busiest days in the entire year for Sin City. Every major hotel, casino, and club has its own NYE celebration, so there’s no shortage of events to choose from. There are two locations in the city that you should consider before making your NYE plans though.
NYE on The Strip
The Strip is known for having some of the best hotels, casinos, and entertainment options in the city. Plus, it’s super convenient having it all so close together! On NYE, The Strip is closed down to traffic and turned into a huge pedestrian-only party.
You can stay outside to bring in the New Year and watch impressive fireworks displays, or head inside to a number of the parties at various clubs and casinos. Some hotels even offer rooftop parties with a better view of the fireworks! NYE fireworks are one of the best shows in December for those visiting Las Vegas.
The key to enjoying NYE on The Strip is to have a plan. Most hotels stop letting people inside without a room key from 11 PM until 1 AM. Unless you plan to stay outside during that time, know where you’re going and when you need to get there. Bundle up and be prepared for the best NYE celebration you’ve ever had!
Fremont Street Experience
Fremont Street is the second largest spot for Las Vegas visitors and locals alike. The downtown shows on Fremont are what make this street a whole experience! Fremont Street spans more than 5 blocks in and is packed with free live entertainment, drinks, dining options, and a vibrant atmosphere.
The New Year’s Eve celebration is a ticketed event that goes from 6 PM to 4 AM. Those extended hours make this one of the longest-running New Year’s Eve Las Vegas events. Guests will enjoy a pyrotechnics show, ariel acrobatics, EDM performances, and so much more! The Fremont street experience is more exclusive and not quite as crowded as the strip since only a limited number of tickets are sold.
December Events at Las Vegas Hotels
Las Vegas in December doesn’t stop at holiday displays and raging NYE parties. There are plenty of Las Vegas events throughout December to keep you entertained during your trip. Some of the best shows in December are happening at hotels on the strip!
John Legend is taking over Zappos Theater for his Las Vegas residency starting in April 2022. Shows will be available throughout the year, including December! The exact show dates and start times for December shows haven’t been released yet. The show is said to include some of Legend’s biggest hits throughout his career. VIP show packages will be available too!
