Two weeks after the city’s streets roared with Formula One engines, Las Vegas is swapping fast cars for fast horses as the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) returns to town. Running from Thursday through Dec. 14, 2024 the rodeo brings the top 15 competitors from across the globe to UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center, vying for a slice of $12.5 million in prize money and the coveted championship belt buckle.

Cowboys, Champions, and Cash Prizes
The 40th year of the NFR has become one of the hardest tickets to snag, with 359 sold-out performances in its history. The rodeo showcases a variety of events, including bull riding, barrel racing, and team roping. With a recently renegotiated contract, the event will remain in Las Vegas through 2035, promising an annual $1 million increase in payouts starting in 2025.
More Than Just the Rodeo
For fans unable to nab a seat, the rodeo experience expands across the city:
- Downtown Hoedown: A free concert featuring country artists like Randy Houser and Jenna Paulette kicks off the festivities on Fremont Street.
- Cowboy Channel Cowboy Christmas: This free retail extravaganza at the Las Vegas Convention Center offers shopping and entertainment on multiple stages, including live discussions with rodeo legends.
- Autograph Sessions: Meet barrel racers, bull riders, and more at designated resort venues across the Strip.

Access for All
NFR Express is making it easy to catch the action with shuttle services from over 20 resorts and standing-room-only tickets available for $75. Additionally, 34 resorts in Las Vegas, Laughlin, and Mesquite will broadcast the rodeo live, ensuring fans don’t miss a single eight-second ride.
A Moment of Remembrance
Last year, tragedy struck the UNLV campus just before opening night when a shooter killed three professors. In tribute, the NFR added a free session for first responders and the UNLV community. This year, a moment of silence will honor the victims.
