The Golden Nugget Las Vegas pool is like no other in the city. The award-winning pool complex features a shark tank, so you really can swim with the fishes – in a good way!
At the center of the main pool is a 200,000-gallon shark tank, with a waterside that runs right through the center of it.
As you can imagine, the Tank at Golden Nugget is a popular attraction that’s almost always crowded with people having fun. Plus, it’s considered one of the best pools for families in Downtown Las Vegas.
If you’re looking for a pool experience that’s more adult-themed, the Golden Nugget also offers a 21+ pool experience on the third level of the pool complex called the Hideout Pool.

Shark Tank Pool
The Shark Tank at Golden Nugget is an amazing pool experience. For starters, the pool complex itself is very nicely done, with waterslides and partially submerged lounges so you can relax in a lounge chair and enjoy the cool water at the same time, and the pool area spans three levels.
Still, with all of that, the most stand-out feature of the Tank pool is the main reason that it has earned an award-winning status – the 200,000-gallon shark tank that sits in the center.
The way the pool is designed, you swim alongside the Tank, or you can take a journey down the waterslide, which winds its way through the Tank. Either way you go, it’s an unforgettable experience.
It’s been a while since we’ve gotten an up-to-date inventory of what types of shark species call the Tank their home. The last we knew, there were five species of sharks, which included two nurse sharks, three tiger sharks, two zebra sharks, four sandbar sharks, and four black-tipped sharks.
We heard a rumor that the number was going to increase to six species, but we haven’t been able to confirm this.
The Tank pool and the hot tub near the pool stay open year-round, weather permitting. Guests only need to bring their room key that was received at check-in for entrance, but if you plan on spending the day there, it’s best to consider a gazebo day rental – reservation required, whether you’re a hotel guest or not.
Non-hotel guests can also access the Tank pool by paying an entrance fee or renting a gazebo or lounge chairs.

Pool hours are subject to change and are often dependent on the season, weather, and what’s happening around Las Vegas. The Tank pool is open from 9 am until 7 pm during the week and a little later on the weekends. Still, we always recommend calling ahead to verify current hours.

Hideout Pool
The Hideout Pool is located on the third floor and offers hotel guests an adult-only poolside lounge experience. Although there isn’t a huge aquarium with exotic fish up here, the Hideout offers a wonderful reprieve from the traffic, noise, and commotion of the Tank pool down below.
Other amenities at the Hideout include an infinity pool, a poolside bar for all of your favorite drinks, towel service, and more. Because it is Las Vegas, we feel like there is one detail we need to clarify.
Although the Hideout Pool is considered an adult-only venue, it is not a top-optional pool. Considering the close proximity to the very family-friendly Tank pool, the topless scene is not going to happen here. There are other topless pools in Las Vegas, but this is not one of them.
Guests of the Hideout must have a valid ID showing that they are at least 21 years of age. Guests, both those staying at the Golden Nugget and non-hotel guests, can only access lounges, daybeds, and cabanas at the Hideout with a reservation.
Otherwise, you don’t need a reservation to access the area, but it’s not as much fun without a place to lounge while you’re there.
Pool Map & Location
Both the Tank and the Hideout are located at the famous Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in Downtown Las Vegas. The address is 129 Fremont St, Las Vegas, NV.
