About Mystere
Mystère is the single longest-running show by the world-famous production company Cirque du Soleil, which is headquartered in Canada. Mystère, which is French for “mystery,” first came to the Las Vegas stage in 1993 and has long been established as one of the amazing shows in Sin City that’s a must-see.
As soon as you see Mystère by Cirque du Soleil open on the stage, you immediately know you’re in for something special. This, of course, happens after you’ve already been graciously entertained by the pre-show clowns that make their way through the audience, interacting in various ways with the showgoers.
Cirque du Soleil shows are known for their colorful costumes, acrobats, music, and choreography, and Mystère is no exception. Mystère is playful, whimsical, and a production that manages to fill audiences, young and old, with awe. So, what is Mystère all about? There’s a general theme here, but we love how Cirque du Soleil leaves so much of it up to the audience’s interpretation.
Mystère, in essence, is a story about the mystery of life and our journey through it. The characters Inti X & Y represent the seeds of life in a comedic way. Red Bird is a primary character that is convinced they can fly.
There are dancers that sing the songs of human emotions and enormous babies that seek nourishment and provide comic relief to the audience. The tribe offers a glimpse into modern humanity. The international crew is large, and there are many, many layers to the story of Mystère, which is part of the reason why it’s such a great show.
Another reason Mystère is a top show is the incredible performers. The acrobatic ability, agility, and pure talent have left us in awe more than once. The music of the band adds a certain heartbeat to the show that draws you in. The whimsy brings you back to childhood and is enchanting. Mystere offers reflection and introspection but also whimsy and comedy, which makes it perfect for all audiences, young and old.
Reviews
Mystère is a highly popular show in Sin City, which means it’s easy to find lots of online reviews, which can be really helpful if you’ve never seen the show and want to get a feel for what previous audience members thought. Overall, word on the street is that Mystère is a fantastic show that’s fun and enjoyable for adults and children alike.
Most audience members love what they see on the stage, although there is a group that hasn’t been so fond for various reasons. Among those who haven’t ranked Mystère among their favorites, mentions include a storyline that was difficult to follow, weird characters, bland comedy, and general lacklusterness that made the show not worth the price of tickets in their eyes.
In our opinion, you should take any review with a grain of salt. Mystère isn’t for everyone, especially with its sense of whimsy and fantasy. Considering that Red Bird and the snail named Alice that grows throughout the show are favorite characters, you really need to immerse yourself in a different world to get full enjoyment from the show.
Seating
The theater where the Mystère by Cirque du Soleil show happens is designed to offer a great viewing experience, no matter where you’re sitting. That said, there are some seats that are better than others.
It’s no secret that many think that the best seats are front and center, no matter what show you’re seeing. It’s true, these seats, which are sections 102, 103. And 104 are amazing, but there is an advantage to sitting a little further back – and it isn’t just because the tickets cost less money.
Mystere is a show that’s fueled by high-energy acrobatics, with some of the acts flying out over the audience. We heard that you want to sit a little further back so you don’t have to crane your neck or miss part of the performance as the artists fly through the air. We decided to give this a try and are happy to report that sitting towards the back of the first section offers the perfect view.
However, even if you don’t want to splurge for the closest seats, we have no complaints from when we sat further back in the 200 sections.
