Vdara and Arai are two luxury-style hotels in Las Vegas that belong to the MGM family of properties. They both offer a prime location on or near the central Strip, with rooms that provide a great view of Las Vegas, especially at night.

While they share so much in common, Vdara and Aria are quite different. The Vdara is an all-suite, non-gaming, non-smoking hotel that’s ideal for those looking for a true escape and also for those traveling with family and aren’t interested in being part of the party scene in Vegas.

The Aria can be described as having a bit more of a fun atmosphere, although it still emits a vibe of luxury. The Aria offers a casino, lively nightlife, and a long list of great restaurants. The Aria is located right on the Strip, while Vdara sits close by, just slightly off of Las Vegas Blvd.

Are you planning a trip to Vegas and just arent’ sure which one to choose? Here’s a side-by-side comparison to help you decide.

Rooms at the Vdara and Aria

There is undoubtedly plenty to consider when choosing a great hotel in Las Vegas, but the types and quality of rooms and suites should be top on the list. After all, this is where you’re going to rest your head after a long day of exploring Vegas or maybe even doing a little entertaining of your own.

Here’s a rundown of how the Vdara Hotel and Aria Resort compare in terms of rooms and suites.

Aria Sky Suites

Among the most luxurious accommodations at the Aria are the Sky Suites. Known as some of the best suites in Las Vegas, the Sky Suites have earned the Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Award and the AAA Five Diamond Award.

The Sky Suites are available in one or two-bedroom options and offer either Strip Views or mountain views from the floor to ceiling windows. Each Sky Suite features all of the wonderful amenities that the Aria is known for, along with extra touches of luxury. The largest of the Sky Suites is the two-bedroom Sky Villa coming in at 3370 sq ft of pure luxury.

Vdara Hotel Suites

Vdara All Suite Hotel & Spa

The Vdara is an all-suite hotel, which means that you aren’t going to find any standard rooms here, but you do have plenty of wonderful options for spacious suites that range from just the right size for an intimate getaway to large and sprawling for those times when you’re looking for space to entertain in Las Vegas.

The first category of suites at the Vdara Hotel is the Studio Suites. These suites are about the same size as a typical standard room in Las Vegas, measuring 582 sq ft, but they come with amenities like a kitchenette, dining table, a small living area with a pull-out sofa, separate bedroom area, and blackout curtains for when you want to turn off the lights of Las Vegas and enjoy a calm atmosphere.

The next class of suites at Vdara is the One Bedroom Suites, with a little more than 800 sq ft of space to lounge in and call your own. These suites offer spectacular views, with a corner suite option, as well as a panoramic suite with 270-degree views of the city.

Then, there are the luxury suites at the Vdara. Guests can choose between a one or two-bedroom penthouse or loft-style suites with a full kitchen, spa-style baths, master bedrooms, luxury beddings, plush robes and slippers, a fully stocked mini-bar, and an in-suite washer and dryer. The luxury suites start at 885 sq ft and go up to 1600 sq ft with the ultra-modern Hospitality Suite.

Restaurants

Restaurants of Vdara and Aria

While both hotels offer very nice rooms, dining options are one area where the two are quite different. The Vdara, being an all-suite, non-smoking, and non-gaming hotel, is all about creating an ambiance and vibe that is relaxed, comfortable, soothing, and luxurious.

Dining options at Vdara are few. There’s the Vice Versa Patio & Lounge for cocktails and snacks, but you aren’t going to find anything more substantial than a sandwich here. Don’t get us wrong…it’s good food. It’s just that this is more of a spot to hang out and enjoy a cocktail or two. You can also grab a light bite at the Market Café or at the Vdara Pool.

The Aria, on the other hand, is more in line with what you expect from a Las Vegas resort in terms of dining options – meaning that there are plenty. The Aria offers more than a dozen restaurants and eateries where you can enjoy everything from an intimate fine-dining experience to grabbing a quick coffee and pastry on your way out the door.

A few examples of restaurants that you’ll find at the Aria include Carbone, Blossom, Jean Georges Steakhouse, Lemongrass, Julian Serrano Tapas, Javier’s, Posh Burger, and the Moneyline Pizza & Bar. There is a dining option for everyone here, regardless of what you’re in the mood for or if you’re working with a budget.

Entertainment & Things To Do

One reason that guests choose Aria and Vdara as their luxury hotel is that both offer a more mature vibe, without all the noise and traffic that some of the other resorts on the Las Vegas Strip are known for. Part of the reason these two hotels can accomplish this is that neither offers any of the shows or performances that the Vegas resort scene is known for.

Don’t worry. Both hotels are just a short walk to the entertainment venues at the Park MGM and T-Mobile Arena. With such easy access to top entertainment venues, you’re not missing out on anything by staying at these hotels, other than some extra noise and commotion.

Casino

Casino

In the realm of entertainment and things to do, there is one significant difference between Aria and Vdara, and that’s the presence of a casino. Vdara is a non-gaming hotel, which is honestly one of the main reasons guests choose it. Not everyone is interested in spending time on the casino floor or everything that comes with having a casino in your hotel. If gaming isn’t on your list of priorities, Vdara is a wonderful choice of hotels in Las Vegas.

However, if you are interested in a little casino action, Aria has you covered. You’ll find all of the usual suspects at the Aria casino, including slots, table games, poker, and a sportsbook.

Nightlife

nightlife

With Vdara being a non-smoking hotel, you’re going to want to plan on venturing out if you want to explore the Vegas nightlife scene. You aren’t going to find trendy nightclubs with long lines at Vdara, and for guests who are looking for quiet and relaxation, this is a very good thing.

At Aria, you’ll find several options for lively Las Vegas-style nightlife. This includes the Alibi Lounge on the casino level of Aria, Lift Bar with its seductive atmosphere located at the edge of the casino, Gem Bar, the massive Jewel Nightclub featuring world-class DJs on the regular, the Baccarat Lounge, and the High Limit Lounge for high rollers. Whether you’re looking for high energy or decadence with a cocktail in your hand, Aria has you covered.

Amenities

At the end of the day, it’s often the amenities that make or break your experience at a hotel. When staying in Las Vegas, you expect a little more in terms of amenities and perks. This is how Aria and Vdara measure up.

Pools

 Sky Pool of Aria

One of the first things guests want to know when checking into a hotel is the details about the pool. Does the hotel have a decent pool? What is the pool area like? How many pools are there, and do you as a guest have access to all of them?

Aria offers three different pools for their guests, and each of them is the shape of a perfect ellipse. Unlike other hotels in Las Vegas with these large, mega-pool complexes, each of Aria’s pools offer something a bit different.

For example, the Sky Pool is where guests can experience the ultimate in luxury and pampering. The Sky Pool is open to all guests of Aria and also all guests of Vdara. At Aria, you’ll also find the LIQUID Pool Lounge, which is an adult-only al-fresco oasis that’s completely different from the typical decent pool experience.

The Vdara also offers a nice pool complex, plus all Vdara guests are welcome to use the Sky Pool in the winter months and the Aria Pool Bar is open to Vdara guests. At Vdara, you can enjoy views of Las Vegas from the rooftop pool and maybe treat yourself to a luxurious private cabana or daybed with access to a private dipping pool. Sip drinks and nibble on delicious food poolside as you enjoy the warmth of the Vegas sun.

Spa and Fitness Center

Spa and Fitness Center

When enjoying an escape to Las Vegas, there’s nothing better than indulging yourself in a little luxury and pampering at the spa. Both Vdara and Aria offer world-class spas that you’ll love treating yourself to.

The Vdara Hotel Spa has won the Forbes Five Star Travel Rating for five consecutive years with its European-style spa experience. The Vdara Hotel Spa spans two floors. The spa experience at Vdara includes access to the lounge, steam room, sauna, and whirlpool. A major detail of this spa is that they take you through a journey of therapeutic, relaxing, and rejuvenating temperature changes.

Spa services at Vdara include a catalog of massage services, including specialized therapies like couples massage and expectant mother massage, along with body services, facials, hair removal, and nails.

Also, a winner of the Forbes Five Star Travel Award, the Spa at Aria Las Vegas is the largest spa on the Forbes award-winning list. The hotel Spa at Aria is a full-service spa experience with luxury and pampering services that most spas can only dream of.

Amenities at the Aria spa include luxurious spa suites that can be reserved for parties of up to four people, Ganbanyoku Beds that are available before or after traditional spa services, Shio Salt Room, an infinity-edge therapy pool, and a medspa with an incredible range of therapeutic treatments.

Price

When shopping for the best value for Las Vegas hotels, it’s important to understand that pricing changes drastically, depending on the time of year, tourist traffic, and any special events that might be bringing people to Sin City. Whether Vdara or Aria costs more really depends on the room you choose and if you can find any deals to snag a room at a lower cost. If you put in a little effort, you can often find deals for rooms at half the price they normally cost.

But, the price of the room itself isn’t the only thing to consider. Both Aria and Vdara charge a daily resort fee in the ballpark of $45 a day (this is always subject to change), and then there are the parking fees.

Guests of the Vdara and Aria can choose valet parking for an additional daily fee. The fee does cover parking at all MGM properties. Self-parking is also available at Aria, and guests of Vdara can also use Aria self-parking since it’s just a short several-minute walk from the hotel. The daily self-parking fee is less than the valet fee at either resort.

There are other costs to consider. For example, do you prefer room service, or will you be going out at night to enjoy a nice meal in one of the famous Las Vegas restaurants? Are you staying close to the main attractions you want to see, and are you willing to walk? If not, you’ll want to factor in transportation costs. It’s not uncommon for a first-time visitor to underestimate how quickly many of these additional costs can add up.

Location

Both Aria and Vdara offer a prime location on the central Las Vegas Strip, although the Vdara is set back just a little off the Strip on Harmon Avenue. Many guests choose Vdara because it offers close proximity to all of the action, sights, and lights of the Strip without actually being located on Las Vegas Blvd.

Aria and Vdara are very close to each other, with both being close to the City Center and other main attractions on the Las Vegas Strip.

Aria Vs. Vdara – Who Wins?

If you’re looking for a nice hotel in Las Vegas, you can’t go wrong with either Aria or Vdara. The Vdara is best suited for a slightly more mature crowd that can live without a casino, nightclubs, and a long list of dining and food options in the hotel they’re staying in. Vdara is all about relaxation.

On the other hand is Aria, another MGM property that offers equally impressive rooms and suites, plus restaurants, nightlife, and a casino on-site. People love Aria because it offers vibrant energy while still maintaining a luxury feel.

Whichever you choose, we’re sure that between the location, rooms, and amenities, you’re going to have a wonderful time on your next trip to Las Vegas.
