The preparations have already begun as a 240 million dollar complex is being built specifically for the race to include pit lanes, a hospitality suite, and paddocks. The road resurfacing is already underway as well.

Race

Formula 1, if you are not familiar, boasts the fastest road-course cars in the world, reaching top speeds faster than NASCAR at 223 mph.

The courses are tough, too, with tight turns, flat-out straightaways perfect for overtaking, and sweeping corners as well. These drivers have to be prepared for anything. But what’s the significance of the Las Vegas Grand Prix?

Well, the Las Vegas Grand Prix will be the first Formula 1 race to be held in Las Vegas since the Caesars Palace Grand Prix was held in 1982. It will also be the first time they use the Las Vegas Strip as a portion of the circuit!

It will also be the third Formula 1 Grand Prix of the season, which means that the drivers will be eager to establish their standings in the early part of the season.

The Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix 2023 is scheduled to be one of the largest sporting events in the world this year. I mean, who wouldn’t get excited about seeing race cars go down the iconic Sin City Strip?!

Las Vegas Grand Prix Track

Las Vegas Grand Prix Track

The F1 track will be 3.5 miles through the center of Las Vegas, including directly on Las Vegas Boulevard. The start and finish line will be in a parking lot that has been turned into a permanent track with a paddock area and pits, and the course will run counterclockwise.

So from the start line, racers will go into an immediate hairpin turn, bend slightly left, then make a quick right where the course transitions from the permanent track to the city streets on Koval Lane. After about a half mile straight on Koval Lane, drivers will make a right turn to sweep around the Sphere in a twisty section which will then land them on Sands Avenue.

Sands Avenue has a few bends and ends in a left turn onto Las Vegas Boulevard, aka the Las Vegas Strip. The Strip has the longest straightaway of the course encompassing 1.181 miles past the neon heart of the city.

After passing world-famous hotels and casinos, a series of corners brings the racers onto Harmon Avenue, which is a half-mile straight that transitions back into the permanent track by the pits to complete the circuit.

It’s quite an exciting track. We are excited to see who becomes the champion at the end of this one!
