If you are in Downtown Las Vegas and want to find something fun to do, you might want to check this place out. Since it’s not a casino, it’s a little more family-friendly and welcoming for all to visit.

Is Neonopolis Popular?

It’s a mixed bag. Online, Neonopolis has been called a “quasi-dead mall in Las Vegas” by urban explorer YouTubers. It’s definitely not one of the busiest places on Fremont Street, Las Vegas, but it isn’t really fair to call Neonopolis a ghost town or a dying entertainment complex.

This venue still has a lot of visitors. While it’s not the most popular place on Fremont Street, there are a lot of people who prefer to unwind here when they aren’t exploring casinos or the amenities in their hotels. 

Because the entertainment here has lower prices, this tends to be more of a local hangout than anything. 

What’s The Deal With Neonopolis, Anyway?

If you ask a lot of people, one of the main reasons to visit Neonopolis isn’t because of the restaurant offerings or the bars. Rather, it’s because this is a 200,000-square-foot space that features a unique aesthetic featuring neon signs.

This is a great place to visit if you want to get photos that don’t entirely feel like they’re from this world. This entertainment complex is more often used for photoshoots and kitschy weddings than it is as a legitimate shopping space. 

Because the entertainment here tends to be somewhat fringe or niche, Neonopolis is a good place to visit if you are looking for a Las Vegas experience that isn’t mainstream. 

Unlike many hotels in Las Vegas, Neonopolis is a great place for family outings. No matter who you are, you’re bound to discover at least one store that suits your interest—often with amazing prices to match.

Toy Shack

This is a toy store that has a lot of inspiration from the Disney Toy Story saga—and it’s even visible down to the logo. You can pick up games, enjoy the movie-like atmosphere, or just get a cool souvenir here.

To a point, a Las Vegas trip may be filled with things where you’d rather keep things in Vegas. However, if you want to make sure that not everything that happens in Vegas stays here, you can grab a tattoo here.

• Banger Brewing. Local to Las Vegas and proud of it, this brew pub offers a full bar, great food, and the type of space you can hang out with friends at. If you love the idea of visiting a hot microbrewery local to Nevada, you’ll definitely have a banger here.
• Dick’s Last Resort. Dick’s became something of an internet sensation since it became a chain that’s famous for hiring staff members who are trained to be rude to you. If you can’t deal with the snark and sarcasm, this is one bar and restaurant that you don’t want to visit. For what it’s worth, though, the food is pretty good.
• Denny’s. If you are looking for a restaurant where the food exists, then go here. The Denny’s here acts as a flagship for Las Vegas in its own weird way. It’s Denny’s, though, so you should already be aware of what to expect.
• International Eatery. The International Eatery is a restaurant that has several mini-restaurants inside. The entire concept of this attraction is to bring cheap food from around the world to a single place in Las Vegas. Get burrito bowls, teriyaki, and strombolis all in one place! It’s a food court, but a nice one.
• The Heart Attack Grill. Made famous for being the most dangerous restaurant in Nevada, this place comes with loaded burgers, alcohol, and cigarettes. Its spokesperson literally dropped dead of obesity. This morbid attraction was actually founded by a doctor as a social commentary about the quality of American food.
• Dirt Dog. It’s no secret that a good hot dog will always remain one of the most popular types of food you’ll get on Fremont Street. Dirt Dog is a restaurant that specializes in great hot dogs that melt in your mouth. Yum.

Now that we’ve gone over every major food location, we can talk about some of the cool attractions you can enjoy. Most entertainment options are located on the third floor of Neonopolis.  These are currently the top picks.

• Axehole. As the name suggests, this is an axe-throwing venue. Along with axe throwing, you also get knife throwing and Viking decor.
• Gene Woods Racing. You can get to enjoy a massive go-kart racing experience on Fremont St thanks to this venue. It’s open from 12 PM to 12 AM daily.
• The Cat’s Meow. A little bit of karaoke, a lotta bit of live entertainment, and friendly staff make this bar one of the better nightlife attractions at the Neonopolis entertainment complex.

• The Little Neon Chapel. Yes, it’s a real wedding chapel. It’s perfect for photos and acts as one of the more popular attractions for people who want to visit classic Las Vegas kitsch. 
• Metropolitan Gallery. This is a popular art destination that has (you guessed it!) art exhibits for sale. 
• Notoriety. On the third floor of Neonopolis, you get to watch live music. Notoriety is their official music venue. If you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere that has concerts that are affordable (even at night!), this is going to be your go-to place for fun.
• Don’t Tell Mama. This is often heralded as the best piano bar in Las Vegas. We can see it. The music is great, and the bar is greater. All the waiters you see in this bar are trained entertainers. So, every time you visit, you get a show. 
• The Nerd. Marketed as the place “where cosplay meets cocktails,” this is a bar where Las Vegas locals can dress up as their favorite anime, sci-fi, and fantasy characters…and not get kicked out for it. You can drink with your fellow nerds here – no judgment whatsoever. 

If you are driving to Neonopolis, we have good news for you. This is one Las Vegas venue that has its own paid parking garage. The first hour of parking is $3, then every hour after that is $2. The daily maximum for parking for your stay is $9. 

If you are local to Las Vegas and want to visit Neonopolis on a regular basis, it’s worth noting that they have monthly passes for $45 a pop. A lot of people also tend to park at Neonopolis, then go out to venture near Fremont Street because it’s so well-located. 

The parking is all underground, so your car also won’t get hot if you leave it here for the day. Since it’s underground, you will have to walk up to the ground floor in order to access the mall. It’s also at a different entrance than Neonopolis—it’s not on Fremont Street.

It’s hard to miss Neonopolis. The entertainment complex is massive and has a ton of neon lights on both the inside and outside of the building.
