Universal Studios Las Vegas

If you are like many kids from the 80s and 90s, you remember hearing about at least one of your favorite shows being recorded by Universal Studios. What if we told you that Universal Studios Las Vegas is also becoming one of the most anticipated venues to open up in Sin City?

It’s true. Universal Parks announced in January of 2023 that they would be building a massive theme park in the heart of Area15 in Las Vegas and would become a new anchor tenant.

Universal Studios Las Vegas would be one of a handful of theme parks being put forth by Universal Parks & Resorts.

However, this isn’t your typical experience from the Universal Parks company. Horror fans, you need to take note.

Introducing Universal Studio’s New Horror Scene!

Unlike all the other amusement parks from Universal, the one coming to Las Vegas will be focused on horror. The official announcement said that the new venue will be a year-round horror experience built off Universal’s famously spooky Halloween Horror Nights.

Fans of the horror genre will be able to explore a sprawling 110,000 square feet that’s devoted to a theme park totally geared towards spooky experiences of all types. It will be a year-round experience featuring experiential art and unique merchandise.

What Will The New Park Feature?

What Will The New Park Feature

Admittedly, there is not much official news on what the new attraction in Sin City will involve, but we do know *some* information about it. Here’s what we know about the latest addition to the Area15 Entertainment District:

The Experience

The park will feature food and beverage spaces that get a lot spookier once the sun sets. It seems like the place will really come alive at night, with interactive shows and special nighttime-only decor.

Though this is an attraction for younger audiences, there will be awesome events for all ages. Haunting bars, spooky character meet & greets, and attractions geared towards interactivity are all part of the resort’s plans.

Universal will be adding a bunch of new ventures within the park’s limits as the park evolves. It’s expected that this year-round horror park will involve special events and pop-up features on a regular basis.

Expect to see fantastic horror-centric experiences with a modern touch. Rumors say that there will be more horror experiences along the lines of a Jordan Peele or James Wan movie. (With that said, we wouldn’t turn down a visit from the Wolf Man or Frankenstein, either.)

Hotel Rooms, Merch & More

It’s uncertain whether Universal Parks & Resorts will add hotel rooms there. We do know that an additional park in the Lone Star State of Texas will have 300 rooms. However, that’s not a guarantee that they will do the same for the Las Vegas location.

Seasonal events are going to be confirmed. The Universal experience on the Las Vegas Strip will change depending on the month or time of year.

Yes, there will be epic merch. The merchandise was already sealed inside the Universal Resorts plans. According to what we know, the merchandise will be branded differently and totally unique to this Universal Park.

When Will The New Theme Park Be Ready?

When Will The New Theme Park Be Ready

Las Vegas locals are already curious about the next park to serve up family-friendly attractions. So far, we know that they were supposed to break ground on the second phase of the building in June.

With that said, Universal Studios has not been able to give us an official opening date, nor do they have an official name announced for the park. Many people have been calling it “Universal Horror Unleashed” online, but that’s not a guarantee of the park’s name staying the same.

What Is Nearby?

The Area15 Entertainment District is famous for having the surreal concept art installation known as “Omega Mart” close by. It’s also famous for being close to the Las Vegas Strip and a quick drive from most major casino floors.
