Ellis Island Las Vegas has been a Sin City tourist staple for decades. It offers a convenient location that’s just one block east of the Las Vegas Strip. At Ellis Island Hotel, Casino & Brewery, you’ll find clean, comfortable rooms, a casino with a friendly atmosphere, a restaurant with the most famous steak special in Las Vegas, and more, which makes it one of our favorite budget-friendly places to stay in Sin City.
Here’s our honest take on what it’s like to stay at Ellis Island Hotel, Casino & Brewery and what you can expect during your stay.
Rooms
Queen Room
The Queen Room at Ellis Island Casino & Hotel is what we would call a very basic, standard room. It’s not fancy, especially by Las Vegas standards, but it is a clean, comfortable, and safe space to rest your head for the night. Plus, Ellis Island is in a super convenient location.
This room features two queen beds, but cribs and extra beds are available upon request. The maximum capacity for this room is four guests.
The Queen Room features standard hotel amenities, including a large screen TV, desk area, bathroom with a shower and bathtub, coffee maker, free wifi, refrigerator, temperature control, small in-room safe, and other comforts for an enjoyable stay.
This room is one of the more budget-friendly options near the Las Vegas Strip, but prices can vary widely depending on when you stay. We’ve seen this room go for as low as $35 a night and as high as several hundred dollars a night, depending on the day of the week and what else is happening in Las Vegas at the time.
King Room
The King guest rooms are exactly like the Queen Rooms, with the exception of there being a single king bed instead of two queen-size beds. You have all the comforts, including a nice comfy bed to relax on while you binge-watch something on the large-screen TV or take advantage of the free wifi.
There’s a coffee maker, bottled water, and mini-refrigerator, so you don’t have to wander down to one of the restaurants every time you want something to drink or crave a little snack.
If you can snag a lower price on this room, it really is a great value. Like the queen room, what you’ll end up paying is all about timing. We suggest booking through a third-party site or regularly checking back with the Ellis Island Hotel site to keep track of the best value-friendly times to visit.
This room is also available as an accessible option for disabled guests.
Suites
Double Queen Suite
If you want to level up your stay at a hotel that’s conveniently located to the Strip and the Sphere, the Double Queen Suite is a great option, especially for small families or small groups of friends,
This is a non-smoking suite (although we have heard that you might be able to smoke on the balcony, you’d definitely want to check with the hotel first on that or risk being charged an extra cleaning fee) that’s spacious and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay in Las Vegas.
The suite features two queen beds plus a pull-out sofa that’s actually not uncomfortable – unlike others we’ve slept on. The desk area is set up with high-speed free Wi-Fi access, and we love that this suite offers a little balcony area to enjoy a morning cup of coffee.
On the cheap end, we’ve seen this suite priced at about $150 per night, but that price easily skyrockets when hotel rooms in Las Vegas are in high demand.
King Suite
The King Suite mimics the Double Queen Suite in size, amenities, and upgraded decor. The king-sized bed is plush and comfy, and there’s also a pull-out sofa. This is also a non-smoking suite with a balcony area, a small living area, and a nice-sized bathroom and vanity area.
Elvis Suite
This is definitely the most fun suite at Ellis Island Hotel Las Vegas. This suite has a retro vibe and rock-and-roll decor. The headboard on the king-size bed is designed to look like an LP, and there’s artwork around the room that features the King of Rock & Roll (and Las Vegas) himself.
If we could add anything to this suite, it would be the ability to order a peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwich from room service and maybe add in a hot tub and a karaoke lounge so we could belt out our favorite Elvis hits.
Ellis Island Hotel Dining
The Front Yard
The Front Yard is a two-story, sports bar-type restaurant that offers both indoor and outdoor seating. We love the spaciousness and open air of this place, not to mention that the food is top-notch and offered at a great price.
The Front Yard opens at 10 am and features a breakfast and brunch menu, so you can get your day started on a belly full of delicious food at a good price. You can also get the entire lineup of craft beers from the Ellis Island Brewery at this restaurant.
Village Pub & Cafe
The Village Pub & Cafe is one of the really good restaurants at the Ellis Island Hotel, and it’s the place where you can snag the most famous steak special in Las Vegas.
In addition to this, they offer great food, like their slow-roasted prime rib, fish & chips, breakfast that’s served all day, and grilled cheese with FOUR different cheeses!
Metro Pizza
Metro Pizza is the restaurant that is going to satisfy your cravings for a deep-dish delight! They offer deep-dish pizza, traditional pizza, strombolis, calzones, and a few extras. Make sure to grab a good stack of napkins – you’re going to need them!
Ellis Island BBQ
This is arguably some of the best BBQ in Las Vegas, especially at such a good price. The menu is small, but it doesn’t need to be huge when you have an intense BBQ flavor like this place offers. We suggest going for a combo of a half slab of ribs and half chicken.
Via Focaccia
Get your favorite sandwich piled high on fresh-baked focaccia. This is a great stop if you want a delicious sandwich but are tired of the typical sub sandwich experience.
Bars & Nightlife
The Ellis Island Hotel, Casino & Brewery doesn’t offer a ton of bars or nightlife options, but what they do offer is perfectly fine (and fun!) as long as you aren’t looking for a club scene.
Ellis Island Craft Beers
The Ellis Island Casino Brewery in Las Vegas, NV, isn’t the type of place where you can go, sit down, and have a drink – but you can grab one or two of their craft beers at either The Front Yard or the Village Pub & Cafe.
The brewery is open daily, and you can check out their selection on tap. They offer light beer, amber, Weiss, porter, IPA, and root beer for those of you who prefer your cold, frothy drink not to have any alcohol in it.
Ellis Island Karaoke Bar
Guests at Ellis Island Casino & Hotel have close access to one of the best karaoke bars in Las Vegas. The karaoke bar features a state-of-the-art sound system – which is super important for making you sound your absolute best, and over 50k songs in the catalog!
The Ellis Island Karaoke Bar is open Sunday through Thursday from 9 pm until 3 am and on Friday and Saturday from 9 pm until 4 am.
Shows & Entertainment
We’re going to be honest here. Ellis Island Hotel Casino & Brewery isn’t known for its happening entertainment scene. With so many major resorts in Las Vegas offering residencies with some of the biggest names in entertainment, Ellis Island seems kind of bland in comparison – but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially if you’d like to stay someplace without all the foot traffic that the big residencies bring into the hotel.
All that said, The Front Yard is known for hosting some great shows and entertainment events. They offer events like Emo Brunch, Oktoberfest in the Front Yard, Rocky Horror Picture Show events, and more.
Pool
The Ellis Island Hotel, Casino & Brewery does offer an outdoor pool area with a small hot tub. Use of the pool is for guests only and is included in the nightly resort fee you pay.
The Ellis Island Hotel pool isn’t as large or as fancy as other Las Vegas hotel pool complexes by any means, but it does the job. There are lounge chairs surrounding the pool, and there’s no need to reserve your spot. Cabanas and daybeds aren’t available.
Ellis Island Casino
The Ellis Island Casino is one of the more relaxed and fun casinos that we’ve been to in Las Vegas, and it’s rumored to have some of the loosest slots in the city, too!
There are more than 250 machines, including slots, video poker, and casinos. If table games, including live blackjack, are more your speed, the table games are all open 24 hours a day, and they have instated new, higher limits – which translates to bigger wins if you’re on a lucky streak. Sports book wagering is also available every day of the week.
If you find that you develop an affinity for the Ellis Island Casino while you’re there, make sure you sign up for Player’s Club so you can access all of the special gaming perks.
