One of the worst things about going on vacation is paying a large sum of money on travel accommodation costs only to realize that you will also have to pay a hefty amount for parking.
It can be one of the most frustrating things when you are heading out to dinner or visiting an attraction, and you can’t find any free parking.
Of course, in a popular vacation destination like Vegas, paid parking is inevitable, but there are actually some areas with free parking! We have found the most up-to-date places with free parking on the Las Vegas Strip and downtown where you won’t end up with sticker shock from the parking fee charged.
Free Parking Las Vegas Strip
The Las Vegas Strip is one of the places almost everyone who visits Vegas goes. It is also a place with a lot of paid parking. However, you can avoid that. Here are some places you can find free self-parking and valet services on the Las Vegas Strip.
If you want to set yourself up for success, find free parking near each stop on your itinerary before you arrive. There are enough places that offer free self parking and valet services, something is sure to be within walking distance.
Many tourists make the mistake of going to a destination and then trying to find free parking instead of the other way around. This can quickly become overwhelming in the moment and lead you to pay for parking unnessicarily.
Instead, find parking before you leave your hotel. Determine if you’ll use a self-park garage or valet, what the free parking requirements are, and where the parking area is located.

Free Parking Downtown Las Vegas
Downtown Vegas is another popular attraction with sites such as The Fremont Street Experience. This area can get crowded, but you can find free parking if you look in the right spots. Here are a few options that offer free parking in downtown Vegas.

Street Parking
There is quite a bit of street parking available. Though it costs during certain times of day, keep an eye out because it can sometimes be free. Apps like SpotHero can be used to find street parking near your destination.
Meters are typically enforced in downtown Vegas from 8 am – 5 pm, and there’s often a time limit. Some metered spots have extended times, so always pay attention to signs when self-parking in the downtown Vegas area if you want to avoid a parking ticket.
Self-parking Garages
Downtown Vegas has several self-parking garages. A few of them give the first half-hour to hour free, so they can be a good option for short-term parking. Even if you’re planning on being in the downtown area for a while, there are secure parking garages that are relatively inexpensive, even if they’re not free.
Some of these garages include:
El Cortez Self-Parking Garage: Free Parking Monday-Friday
Neonopolis Garage: Free Parking for up to one hour
Downtown Grand: Sometimes has short-term free parking Monday-Thursday
Hotels
Unlike the Strip, where many of the hotels charge for parking, the hotels in downtown Vegas offer free parking except at Binions and the Four Queens. The Plaza even offers free valet for its guests and 90 minutes of free parking for non-hotel guests. Fremont Hotel and Casino is another one that offers free valet for its hotel guests as there is no self-parking on the property.
Parking at one of the hotels that offer free parking in Downtown Vegas is a good option if you’re just exploring Downtown for a day or part of a day, even if your accommodations are on the Las Vegas Strip.
Free RV Parking in Las Vegas

With so many outdoorsy activities near Las Vegas, it is common for travelers to bring their RV into the city to explore while there. The dilemma is always where to park the RV since they often don’t fit in regular parking spots.
Three hotels spots allow RV or oversized parking:
- The Excalibur Hotel & Casino
- The Strat Hotel & Casino
- Circus Circus Hotel & Casino
- Bally’s Hotel & Casino
- The Mirage
- LINQ Hotel & Casino
- Travelodge Center Strip

Free Parking Tips
Though getting free parking can be somewhat complicated in Las Vegas without staying at a resort with it, there are a few other ways in addition to the places we have listed above.
For instance, in downtown Las Vegas, local businesses can often validate your parking if you spend money with them. Check with the management of restaurants or the pit bosses of casinos.
Nevada residents should look out for promotions as there is sometimes free parking given to those with a valid driver’s license issues in Nevada.
Though not completely free, if you don’t want to pay for parking, public transit options like The Downtown Loop Shuttle, Deuce on the Strip, or rideshare are great options.

Rewards Programs with Free Parking Benefits
Another way to get free Las Vegas parking is to sign up for a loyalty reward card. Many hotels on Las Vegas Boulevard and in Downtown give their loyal guests free parking benefits with a loyalty rewards card. Some of these include:

Having one or both of these cards would allow you to park for free close to almost anywhere on the Strip.
Las Vegas free parking becomes a lot more convenient when you earn it with a loyalty card!
The credit cards for the resorts will frequently get you free parking just for being a cardholder as well, though keep in mind that these do require a credit check.
