Hidden Bars in Las Vegas

Hidden bars in Las Vegas are easy to miss during your first visit, but we can’t recommend adding one or two hidden gems to your itinerary enough.

As frequent visitors to Las Vegas, we like to go beyond the mainstream restaurants and bars on S Las Vegas Blvd and Downtown. Hidden bars and speakeasies in Las Vegas can be found all over the place. You just have to know where to look. We’re sharing all the details on hidden doors, passwords, and the location of the best bars you’ve probably never noticed.

We will warn you of one thing; once you experience the fun of going to a hidden bar, you’ll just want to go find another!

Hidden Bars on the Strip

The Barbershop Cuts and Cocktails

Cosmopolitan Las Vegas is home to some of our favorite hidden bars in Las Vegas. The Barbershop is a prohibition-era hidden bar that’s hidden behind a functional barbershop. The Barbershop accepts walk-ins, but we highly recommend scheduling an appointment if you don’t want to wait for your perfect cut.

Beyond the Barbershop and behind what looks like an ordinary janitor’s closet, there’s a saloon stocked with more than 150 types of whiskey and bourbon from around the globe. We know how hard it can be to find a good, stiff drink in Vegas, but this saloon does not disappoint!

The saloon opens at 8 PM from Sunday to Wednesday and 6 PM from Thursday to Sunday. The Barbershop is open from 10 AM to 10 PM from Sunday to Thursday and 10 AM to Midnight from Friday to Sunday.

1923 Bourbon Bar

Beneath the escalator at The Shoppes at Mandalay Bay, there’s a Las Vegas speakeasy that allows you to time-travel back to the 1920s. The swanky and secret lounge is bourbon-centric, with 50 different types of bourbon behind the bar.

For cocktail lovers (like us!), there’s a good selection of top-shelf spirits with a menu of signature cocktails that taste incredible.

The hidden bar opens at 11 AM, seven days a week. There’s live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights from 9 PM to midnight. On other nights, there are piano players and burlesque dancers. If budget isn’t a concern, you can splurge for VIP seating and even rent out part of the bar for special events.

Here Kitty Kitty Vice Den

Here Kitty Kitty Vice Den at Resorts World Las Vegas is one of the newest speakeasies on the Strip. This location takes the “hidden bar” to the next level! Inside Resorts World Las Vegas, Fuhu Cha Chaan Teng is located in the Famous Foods Street Eats. The restaurant has a shelving unit that doubles as an entrance to the bar.

Finding the secret entrance is easy; just look for the shelf with a golden lucky cat sitting in the middle. Near the shelf, there’s a desk on the left with a smaller lucky cat. You can check-in and gain entry to the bar by saying the password “meow.”

Once the shelf door opens, you’ll be taken into an intimate cocktail lounge setting. The seating is limited, so entry to Here Kitty Kitty Vice Den is not guaranteed; it just depends on how many other people are already inside.

The lounge opens at 4:30 PM nightly, and we recommend arriving as close to opening as you can.

The secluded bar has tasty craft cocktails and an eclectic, oriental theme that’s a nice change of pace from the craziness of the Las Vegas Strip.

Mas por Favor Taqueria y Tequila

This taqueria and tequila bar location isn’t technically on Las Vegas Blvd but is just two miles away. We don’t mind traveling two miles for great tequila, and neither should you! The taqueria serves tacos at 11 AM each day, but the tequila bar isn’t open until 4 PM.

When the clock strikes 4 PM, guests can ask the cashier about “tonight’s delight.” This keyword will gain you entry to a secret tunnel passage that takes you to the entrance of the speakeasy parlor. The menu has an incredible selection of tequilas and mezcals, a craft cocktail menu, and Mexican beers.

Don’t overlook the tacos part of this tacos and tequila concept, either! We recommend the Al Pastor Street taco or the Pho-Kin signature taco.

Ghost Donkey

ghost donkey door

The Las Vegas Cosmopolitan Resort is home to more than one of the best speakeasies on S Las Vegas Blvd. Ghost Donkey is located in Block 16 Food Hall. This bar uses a more hidden-in-plain-sight strategy than other speakeasies in Las Vegas, but that’s part of what makes it so fun.

Along the back wall of the Food Hall, you have to search for a green door with a white donkey pictured on it. The door is surrounded by restaurant seating for other restaurants in the Food Hall, so it doesn’t immediately stand out.

There’s no Ghost Donkey signage or indication the door leads to one of the best speakeasy-style bars in Sin City. You just have to be in the know.

Behind the door, there’s a secret bar that makes it feel like you’re stepping into New York City. This is the smallest speakeasy at the Las Vegas Cosmopolitan Resort. In total, it’s just a little bigger than the average Las Vegas hotel room.

Beauty and Essex

Beauty and Essex technically falls into the secret restaurant category, but bar and lounge seating also exist. On the third floor of Cosmopolitan Resort, there’s an entrance that looks like it goes to a pawn shop. And technically, it does! You can shop at the pawn shop if you want. Past the hotel’s pawn shop entrance, there’s an elegant restaurant and bar.

The restaurant and bar were done in partnership with TAO Group, so we’re not surprised everything from the menu to the decor was done to perfection. The menu focuses on small bites that come in plates to share so everyone in your group can taste a bit of everything. At the bar, there are innovative variations of the classic cocktail recipes we all know and love.

The secret restaurant is open from 5 PM to 10:30 PM daily. If you need a hidden snack before Beauty and Essex is open, try Secret Pizza at The Cosmopolitan.

On The Record

Just off the main casino floor at Park MGM, there’s what looks like a record store entrance. Once you go through the entrance, you’ll step into On The Record nightclub. The club captures the atmosphere of being in a trendy record store with the added bonus of delicious cocktails!

The club has indoor spaces and an outdoor patio spread across three rooms. Once you’re in, you can move freely between the spaces to dance, lounge, and drink. Beyond the incredible ambiance of this club, we can’t get over the killer location. You’re just steps away from the casino floor, but it feels like you’re in a different world.

The Cabinet of Curiosities

The Cabinet of Curiosities at Horseshoe Las Vegas is hidden away next to the Nat Geo Rarely Seen Photos Exhibit on the first floor, across from the Real Bodies exhibit. This bar is well-marked and not hard to find, but don’t be fooled.

Inside the Cabinet of Curiosities, there’s a vault-style door with a lock. Near the door, there’s an old-school phone. Pick up the phone to tell them the name of your reservation or how many people are at your party. Without a reservation, entry is not guaranteed.

The host that answers the phone may ask you a few simple questions that add to this secretive, exclusive-feeling entry process. You’ll then be told a password. Someone will open the door, ask for the password, then take you to the hidden bar called The Lock. We love how clever it is to hide a bar within a bar; the entry process is so fun!

Hidden Bars in Downtown Las Vegas

The Laundry Room

Before you can find The Laundry Room, you have to find Commonwealth across the street from the famous El Cortez Hotel. The prohibition era Las Vegas speakeasy is extremely exclusive.

Only 22 people are allowed to be in The Laundry Room at a time, so the cocktail craftsman can give everyone an unforgettable experience. Thankfully, you don’t have to be anyone special to make the exclusive guest list.

You can make a reservation online that guarantees your entry and allows 90 minutes inside the speakeasy. Getting into the bar is a fun experience that makes you feel like you’re doing something sneaky in a good way!

When you arrive at Common Wealth, you’ll text The Laundry Room about your reservation. A hostess will then meet you and escort you into the prohibition-era hideaway.

There’s not a typical menu. Instead, the craftsman will tailor a unique drink experience for you. We’ll be honest; this is not the place to go if you have a tight budget. There’s a two-drink minimum, 25% gratuity, and a bottomless popcorn purchase for every guest.

The Underground

The Mob Museum is one of our top recommendations for tourists looking to learn more about Las Vegas history Downtown. Not only does the Las Vegas Mob Museum have a lot of educational opportunities, but it also has one of the best speakeasy bars in the city.

The Mob Museum’s underground speakeasy is aptly named based on its location below the rest of the museum. We think it’s worth it to tour the entire Las Vegas Mob Museum before heading to The Underground, but you don’t have to. The Underground is a prohibition history exhibit.

Inside the exhibit, there’s a distillery and a speakeasy. The speakeasy opens at noon daily. If you’re not entering the speakeasy through the exhibit, you can enter via a side door with the weekly password found on the Mob Museum website.
