Though many people think Las Vegas is compact and a relatively small area, it is actually pretty spread out. Even just the Las Vegas Strip alone is 4.2 miles long, and downtown Las Vegas is more than 6 miles from the Strip, depending on where you start. So, though you can walk a lot of places while on the Strip, you often need some sort of transportation for getting around Las Vegas.
Many people opt for ridesharing options like Uber or Lyft, or sometimes they will rent a car. However, ridesharing gets expensive, especially during peak times. Plus, renting a car poses the problem of finding and paying for parking in most places you go, as parking is a luxury in Sin City.
There are also Las Vegas trams that take passengers along various stops on the Strip, but these are somewhat limited in how far they will take you.
One great alternative that is affordable and convenient is a bus system called the Las Vegas Deuce. Take a look at everything you need to know about taking The Deuce Las Vegas, including pricing, routes, stops, frequency, and more.
What is the Deuce?
The Las Vegas Deuce bus system is a public transportation option provided by the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada. It is similar to the regular bus systems available in the majority of cities and towns, but they have taken it one step further to be easy to use for both locals and visitors as well.
You’ll see Las Vegas Deuce buses all the way from the Harry Reid International Airport to the Strip, downtown, and even the suburbs.
Stops, Routes, and Schedule
The most popular Deuce routes are the Deuce on The Strip, which has air-conditioned double-decker buses, and the Downtown Loop. The Deuce on The Strip route includes stops on both the Strip and downtown.
The Deuce on The Strip route runs almost all of Las Vegas Blvd, with the South Strip Transit Terminal and Park and Ride Lot located off of Hidden Well just past Sunset Blvd, near the airport. The northern end is actually past the Fremont Street Experience downtown near the Bonneville Transit Center, where you can catch the Downtown Loop Deuce route.
Stops on the Deuce on the Strip route include resorts such as Hilton Grand Vacations, Sky Las Vegas, Treasure Island
On the Downtown Loop, you can find stops such as the Fremont Street Experience, The Arts District, Las Vegas North Premium Outlets, The Strat, Circa Hotel and Casino, City Hall, Brewery Row, and Pawn Plaza, among others.
Of course, there are also residential routes and ones that can take you all throughout the city and suburbs, though they are less popular for visitors.
Riding The Deuce From To and From the Las Vegas Airport
It is important to note that even though the South Strip Transit Terminal is near the airport, the Deuce bus does not directly stop at the airport.
To get to the airport from your accommodations on the Strip, you’ll need to take the Deuce on The Strip route south, then get on the Route 109 bus at the South Strip Transfer Terminal. The Route 109 Deuce bus stops at Terminal 1.
To get to your accommodations on the Strip from the airport, simply go to Ground Level Zero catch the Route 109 bus at Terminal 1, and transfer to the Deuce on the Strip route at the South Strip Transfer Terminal. From there, you can get off at your desired Strip stop.
Frequency
Each route has its own frequency; however, for the Las Vegas Strip route, you can expect a bus every 15 minutes between 7 a.m. and 1 a.m. and every twenty minutes between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m.
So, if you are leaving the club or a show a little late, keep in mind that you may have just a bit more of a wait. Frequent construction on Las Vegas Boulevard can also cause delays occasionally.
Additionally, the popular Downtown Loop route only operates between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. during the week, including Sunday and 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
All other routes have set times for each stop, so you’ll need to plan accordingly.
Pricing
Hour Pass | Reduced Fare | Regular Fare |
Single Ride | $2 | $4 |
2 Hour Pass | $3 | $6 |
24 Hour Pass | $4 | $8 |
3-Day Pass | $10 | $20 |
Las Vegas Deuce pricing, in general, is divided into visitor and resident pricing. Residents have many more options when it comes to buying passes, but for the sake of this article, we are going to go over visitor pricing.
Visitor Pricing
Visitor pricing starts at $3 and can go up to $20 depending on the pass you buy and whether you qualify for reduced fares. Keep in mind that pricing is always subject to change.
For a single visitor two hour pass, the regular fare is $6. It is actually more affordable to buy the 24-hour pass, which comes in at an $8 regular fare if you are going to use the bus more than once a day.
The most expensive but also the handiest pass if you are going to be in town for a few days is the three-day pass, which comes in at $20 for regular fare. Children under five and younger ride free but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Reduced Fares
Reduced fares are available for youth ages 6-17, students K-12, senior citizens over 60, veterans, those with disabilities, and Medicare-eligible persons. Reduced fares allow you to take Las Vegas buses for half off.
However, you have to get a reduced fare identification card by applying in person at the Bonneville Transit Center on the southwest corner of Casino Center Blvd. You also must bring proper identification such as a Medicare card, Driver’s License, or others, depending on which applies to prove eligibility.
Deuce Tickets
There are four main ways to buy tickets to ride The Las Vegas Deuce, including select ticket vending machines, in person at an approved vendor, on board, or on the rideRTC app. There are pros and cons to each.
Ticket Vending Machines
You can find a ticket vending machine at several Deuce bus stops, such as the South Strip Transit Terminal, Centennial Express Stops, and the airport terminal stops, among others. It accepts cash in denominations up to $20 as well as most credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
Approved Vendors
Approved vendors are a way to buy passes in person; however, passes that are purchased in person at any location that is not approved are not valid. Some of the approved vendors include 7-Eleven, Albertsons, Circle K, Check City locations, and more. You can use this interactive map to search for approved vendors by location.
On-Board
You can buy both two-hour and 24-hour passes on board Deuce vehicles. It is important to note, though, that if you are going to buy an access pass on board, you should ensure you have the exact fare as the bus driver does not carry change.
RTC App
The rideRTC App is available for download and is the most convenient way to buy tickets. Simply select the access pass you want, pay the fare, and go!
Tips for Taking the Deuce
Though the Deuce is quite easy to use while visiting Vegas, there are a couple of tips and tricks that can be helpful.
Getting On & Off
When getting on the bus, ensure that you provide your pre-purchased access pass or purchase one on board before sitting down. Additionally, you’ll want to verify that you have the right bus by checking the route number displayed on the front of the bus.
When you are approaching your bus stop, pull the alert on the ceiling to notify the bus driver that you are getting off. Always ensure that the bus makes a full stop before attempting to disembark and that you move as quickly as possible on and off the bus to ensure the bus makes its next stop on time.
Figuring Out a Route
One of the most intimidating parts of utilizing bus routes is figuring out which one you need to go where. Luckily, the rideRTC app is an easy way to map out where you need to go and which bus stops and bus routes you’ll need.
Follow The Rules
Deuce buses do their best to accommodate passengers, but all are required to follow the rules, including keeping the aisle free of grocery bags or other packages, refraining from eating, drinking, or smoking, wearing a shirt and shoes at all times, and respecting animal policies (service animals ride free).

Hey We were recently in Las Vegas and purchased two 3 day passes. We were departing Freemont and the security on board the bus said there was not sufficient room and cut us off.He had not used a counter and there was plenty of seating remaining.
Many took an uber in place of the deuce. We waited an extra 30 minutes for the next bus.I’m hoping this will be evaluated and a response will follow in review as I may not use again or recommend to future visitors.
Looking forward to hearing from you with a potential refund and clarity on this situation.
