Comparing Buffets

When comparing buffets in Las Vegas, there are several factors to consider. We’ve broken it out below so you know what to look for.

Price

Obviously, the first thing everyone wants to know is the price. Buffet prices in Las Vegas range from $20 – $100 per person, and kids are generally half-price.

Hours

With fewer buffet options post-Covid, you really have to look at what days and times the buffets are open and if they fit into your schedule.

You might assume all buffets are open for dinner, but you’d be disappointed these days to find that almost half of them are closed for dinner or only on weekends.

Selection

Today, a buffet is judged by the number of stations and the amount of selection offered. Some people frequent buffets just to try new foods they wouldn’t normally be exposed to without having to order a full plate at a restaurant. So, selection matters.

There are some basics everyone expects to see at a Vegas buffet, like a carving station with a selection of meats, a seafood station, an Italian station with pizza and pasta, an Asian station with sushi, and a Mexican station with tacos and other Latin dishes, and of course a dessert station.

When you get to the higher-end buffets, you’ll find specialties like crab legs, lobster, and lamb.

Live stations where you get made-to-order pasta and omelets are a real hit, so search those out.

Food Quality and Taste

We all know the difference in taste between fine dining food and take-out or quick-serve food.

Is there seafood just freshly flown in today, or do they have day-old sushi, bread, or reheated mac and cheese?

Location

Unless you’re a local, you have to consider transportation to the buffet, so location matters. If you’re staying on the strip, it might be easier to walk downstairs from your room and go to the hotel’s buffet or a neighboring hotel’s buffet.

If you’re staying downtown, you only have one option – Main Street Station buffet. So pay attention to whether the buffet you want is easy to get to.

  12. So far so good. In addition to Downtown buffets I’d love to see off strip buffets. Some of the best buffets for the price can be found around the area. Palms, The Orleans, Green Valley Ranch, M, Silverton & Red Rock are all great values for their food.
