Tao Group Hospitality unveiled its newest restaurant on April 29, 2023. The upscale casual restaurant, Cathedrale, serves French-Mediterranean cuisine and boasts a full bar. The grand opening was a star-studded event with celebrity appearances from big stars.
We can’t wait to share all the details we know about this new restaurant at Aria so you can book a reservation and dine the way celebrities do!
Cathédrale Grand Opening at Aria Resort
Mark Wahlberg set the tone for the evening as the host of Cathedrale’s opening event. Anderson.Paak created a custom soundtrack for the event. If an academy award winner and a Grammy winner aren’t enough to get you excited about this restaurant, don’t worry; the list of celebrities in attendance keeps going!
The Vampire Diaries Nina Dobrev, Olympian Shaun White, and music superstars Wiz Khalifa and Flavor Flav also turned out to support the opening of Cathedrale. There were even appearances from infamous blogger Perez Hilton and the Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams.
In addition to tasting feature dishes from the Cathedrale kitchen, guests also got to try specialty cocktails made with Flecha Azul tequila.
Cathedrale was designed by The Rockwell Group. It’s no surprise to learn that the same group created the original Cathedrale restaurant in New York City; you can see similarities throughout the space. The Las Vegas location has seating for 266 guests.
As soon as you enter the restaurant, your eyes are drawn to a custom light piece from South African sculpture designer, Willowlamp. The fixture hangs from the ceiling and acts as a natural centerpiece for the restaurant. It was carefully designed using 25 miles of chain, similar to what was used in the architectural design of French cathedrals.
The massive fixture weighs an incredible 6,000 pounds. As if that’s not enough, another chain lighting fixture over the bar weighs nearly 3,000 pounds! Candles and hand-carved artwork line the room and accent the blue velour drapery in a stunning way. When you’re inside the restaurant, it certainly doesn’t feel like you’re just steps away from the casino floor.
The lighting, decor, and overall ambiance are very inviting and relaxing for guests. No matter where you’re seated, it feels like an intimate dining experience.
The menu at Cathedrale is ingredient-driven, with a lot of inspiration drawn from the original New York location. Tableside service for some dishes and more extravagant plating techniques make this restaurant a bit showy compared to the New York restaurant, but we think that’s fitting for Vegas!
Some of the best dishes at Cathedrale Las Vegas are the black truffle fettuccine, an omelet with caviar and creme fraiche, and salt-baked Mediterranean sea bass. The menu, created by Executive Chef Jason Hall with the help of Chief Culinary Officer Ralph Scamardella, was carefully designed to let fresh ingredients be the focus of every plate.
In addition to delicious French-Mediterranean cuisine, the menu has hand-crafted specialty cocktails with unique presentation methods. There are also mocktails, coffee, and tea alongside an extensive list of red, white, and sparkling wines.
