The Park MGM Steakhouse, Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar, the Chicago classic, has arrived in Las Vegas. Formerly The Brand during the Monte Carlo era, the restaurant has been overhauled into its new identity as Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar. It’s a gilded space with an ambiance perfect for date night.
As a unique take on the average steakhouse, Bavette’s embraces French flair and fun, too. Here’s what you can expect from a night out at Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar.
Atmosphere
When you walk into Bavette’s, you’ll immediately notice the sultry atmosphere reminiscent of a traditional steakhouse. There is a bit of Vegas flair as Bavette’s features red leather banquettes and glowing chandeliers.
Basically, what we’re saying is that they’ve spiced up your run-of-the-mill steakhouse into an atmosphere that has the energy and ambiance of Las Vegas.
Bavette’s Chef
Chef Brad Skougard is at the helm of Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar. He’s racked up over a decade of experience as an executive chef, and he is the mastermind behind why Bavette’s embraces French flair. Think of it as his unique take based on his own experiences.
He has done a great job at Park MGM Las Vegas over the last few years, creating a wonderful dining experience by blending fine dining with a bit of more casual fun.
Bavette’s Steakhouse Menu
If you’re looking for a delicious meal, you can’t go wrong at Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar. Here’s a look at what to expect on the menu.
Starters
To start your dinner off, you can opt for fresh seafood towers called the Royal Plateaux, baked crab cake, Tenderloin Steak Tartare, or Baked Goat Cheese. If you want just a little nibble, you can’t go wrong with the fresh-baked handmade sourdough bread. There is just something about a really good loaf of bread with high-quality butter.
Salads & Sandwiches
On the salads and sandwiches front, there are a lot of top-notch choices, too. Try the Wedge Salad or the Crab Stuffed Avocado, a half avocado stuffed with crab salad, bib lettuce, and dressed with a dijon-sherry vinaigrette. There are two sandwiches to choose from as well. You can choose between the 10-ounce Double Wagyu Cheeseburger or the Prime Beef French Dip.
Steaks
From richly flavorful ribeyes to filet mignon, there are just as many, if not more, steak options at Bavette’s as at other steakhouses. They’ve got dry-aged options, several different cuts, and choices you won’t find everywhere, like the Roasted Bone Marrow and the 32-ounce, 42-day Dry-Aged Porterhouse.
You can also enhance any of the steaks with wild mushrooms, warm king crab Oscar, or a peppercorn crust. And don’t worry. It will all be cooked perfectly to your preference. Keep in mind that the steaks don’t come with a side dish, and you’ll have to order those separately.
Entrees
If steaks aren’t your thing, there are plenty of dishes that will suit your fancy. Consider Bavette’s Spiced Fried Chicken, Honey Glazed Salmon, or the Double Cut Berkshire Pork Chop. They are all delicious. Other options include Lamb Chops, Short Rib Stroganoff, Glazed Black Cod, or Roasted Chicken.
Unlike the steaks, all of the entrees have perfectly paired side dishes that come with them.
Sides
Though there are more traditional side dishes like loaded baked potato, creamed spinach, and buttery mashed potatoes, you can indulge in more unique sides, too. Some of our favorites are the truffle mac and cheese, button mushrooms, elote-style corn, and even thick-cut bacon.
Gluten-Free & Vegan Options
Unexpectedly, Bavette’s Steakhouse has options for both vegan and gluten-free diets. There are more selections for gluten-free individuals, though those who follow a vegan diet can still get a three-course meal!
On the menu, vegan-friendly options include a Mixed Greens and Apple Salad or Roasted Tomato Salad, Classic Fettuccine with Red Sauce, and for dessert, they’ve got a smooth, crisp mango sorbet.
For those who are gluten-free, we’d say more than 50% of the menu is gluten-free, which is great!
Desserts
The unabashed fun doesn’t stop when you’ve finished your steak because there are some deliciously fun and tasty dessert options. They rotate depending on what is being crafted in the kitchen. However, you can expect choices such as carrot cake and chocolate cream pie, desserts that many restaurants don’t have.
Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar Beverages
Bavette’s has amazing food, but the drinks are just as good, too. Their cocktails are strong and creative, and the wine list includes labels from all over the world that will delight any taste buds.
A few of our favorite strong cocktails include the Champagne Smash, Manhattan, or Bavette’s Punch. You can also get a great selection of martinis, including a fabulous espresso martini. Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar also has four different versions of an Old Fashioned that will knock your socks off.
When it comes to wine, they’ve got an international wine list that is all available by the glass and the bottle. White, Red, Sparkling… there’s something for everyone. For those who like a brew, they’ve got your standard Bud Light and Stella Artois plus craft IPAs, stouts, ales, and pilsners.
Private Group Dining
Depending on your party size, you may consider the private dining available at the restaurant. There are a variety of spaces depending on how much room you need.
They can accommodate up to 300 people for full reception-style gatherings and 200 for a seated meal. There are more intimate private dining rooms holding between 16 and 18 guests, too.
Groups of 16 or fewer should call the reservation line at 702-531-2186, though groups of 17 or more should call the group dining line at 702-730-7580.
Price
So what’s it going to cost you to indulge in timeless steakhouse fare with a French twist at Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar? Well, it’ll be more than a penny or two. The starters will run you $8.99 for the bread or $4.99 per oyster and up to $130.99 for the Royal Plateaux. However, most of the starters are around $30.00.
Salads are mostly in the $20 range, while the sandwiches will cost you about $36. For the main event, the steaks, the lower-priced cuts are somewhere between $48 and $75. Dry-aged cuts are a bit more, around $85 and $99. If you want the Porterhouse, though, prepare to shell out a bit over $185, and enhancements are extra.
Entrees range from the mid $30 range to $75, and sides are all under $20. And when it comes to cocktails, they are $20 each on average. The wine list has a large range for every budget, and beers are between $8 and $10.
With all this being said, these prices are pretty average for a steakhouse on the Las Vegas Strip. Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar is not the go-to for a cheap dinner, but it is a nice night out as long as you are prepared for the pricing. Still, it’s not the most expensive restaurant choice on the Las Vegas Strip either.
Reviews
Many reviews highly recommend Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar as a stylish departure from a stuffy, traditional steakhouse. One mentioned in their review that they received complimentary champagne for their anniversary, one that had great service during his wife’s birthday, and another raved that though it was their first visit, it won’t be their last.
Like many restaurants, not all of the reviews are positive. Most of the blips in the reviews come from slight problems with the food, such as the quality of the steak not being what the patron expected or a side dish that came out cold.
However, despite these sporadic reviews, all of the most recent ones have raved about the food, service, ambiance, and more, so we have a feeling that whatever was going on has since been resolved.
