Yama Sushi is a sushi restaurant in Vegas that has both a la carte and all-you-can-eat options. Their specialty rolls have become a staple in the Las Vegas area, making Yama Sushi a must-try on your next trip to Las Vegas. Let’s take a look at everything you need to know before you go.
Yama Sushi
Yama Sushi was born in 1989. In the beginning, it was a small place in a strip mall on Flamingo. Over the years, they have grown in popularity and have expanded to three different locations in the Las Vegas area.
Their specialty rolls and homemade sauces are dreamed up by their talented chefs with inspiration from the Vegas spirit and regular customers. Yama Sushi focuses on fresh, creative sushi at an affordable price, making it a favorite of Las Vegas locals and tourists alike.
Menu
The Yama Sushi menu is extensive and has everything you would expect from a sushi restaurant, including appetizers, specialty rolls, nigiri, dessert, and even beer, wine, and saki! Here are some of the menu favorites from every section!
Starters
At Yama Sushi, there are too many great appetizers to not start your meal off with at least one. Try the classic Edamame, which they offer in a spicy and garlic version in addition to the traditional salted flavor. The pork gyoza is delicious as well, both steamed or fried.
They also offer traditional Japanese appetizers like Saba Shioyaki, a salted grilled mackerel, Salmon, or Hamachi Kama. To further tempt your tastebuds, there’s the grilled fish collar, Agedashi Tofu, and Chicken Karaage, a Japanese fried chicken.
Of course, you also can’t go wrong with the miso soup and seaweed salad or chicken teriyaki with a house salad.
Special Rolls
The specialty rolls are where Yama Sushi really shines. They currently have 56 different specialty rolls, all of which truly embody Sin City and loyal Yama Sushi customers.
Each specialty roll has a cheeky name and a combination of flavors that will blow your mind. If you are looking for something fresh but spicy, try the TNT (Kaboom), a spicy salmon roll with cucumber topped with spicy tuna, or the You The Man Too!!, a spicy tuna roll with cucumber, topped with avocado, salmon, and spicy mayo.
If you’re feeling a bit devious, the Devil Roll is also fresh and has the heat turned up a notch with a spicy tuna roll as the base with special sauce, green onion, and spicy mayo.
Looking for the eel? Get the Superman with deep-fried and cream cheese topped eel and eel sauce or the Double Dragon, a tempura eel roll with eel, avocado, and eel sauce.
The Strip Tease is another fun roll consisting of shrimp tempura, cream cheese, and crab meat topped with crunch, avocado, and eel sauce. Similar to the Strip Tease is the No Name, a best-seller, which is soy paper wrapped shrimp tempura and eel topped with salmon, spicy mayo, crunch, and eel sauce.
For those that don’t like seafood, they have a beef or chicken teriyaki roll, which you can get with or without teriyaki sauce. There is a specialty roll option for those that like vegetables as well. The Vegan Roll has avocado, cucumber, daikon, carrot, and asparagus wrapped in soy paper and topped with more avocado.
Other Rolls
Yama Sushi also has some more standard rolls and hand rolls with their own twist. If you want to try something a bit different, try the Salmon Skin Roll, which has grilled salmon skin, kaiware, gobo zuke, cucumber, and avocado.
If you are just looking for a bomb of salmon without all the extras, go for the Double Salmon with smoked salmon and fresh salmon paired with cucumber and avocado for creaminess.
The Soft Shell Crab Roll is another favorite with soft shell crab, crab meat, avocado, cucumber, kaiware, and gobo zuke. For the vegetarians, get the cucumber or avocado roll with cucumber or avocado with sushi rice and a seaweed wrap. It’s classic and simple. They also have other classics like a California Roll.
Nigiri
Nigiri is fresh seafood; usually, fish is laid over sushi rice and wrapped with seaweed. It is the best way to taste the freshness and quality ingredients.
Yama Sushi offers some exotic nigiri such as sea urchin (uni), quail egg, and ika (squid). They also have more basic nigiri for those who aren’t so adventurous such as sweet shrimp, garlic tuna, smoked salmon, and crab stick (Kani).
Drinks
Your meal wouldn’t be complete without a refreshing adult drink. There are plenty of options to choose from at Yama Sushi since they offer beer, wine, and sake.
For wine, they offer five different varieties by the glass or in two different size bottles.
They also have draught beer which you can get in a glass, pitcher, or a tower to split with the table. Get your favorite domestics or try one of the imports like Sapporo, Kirin, or Asahi.
The sake sections are the drinks that most customers come to try with 24 different varieties. Get flavored and sparkling sake, hot sake, junmai sake, and more. Yama Sushi also has two unique shooters which are the Uni Shooter and the Quail Egg Shooter.
Dessert
Finish off your meal with a sweet treat. Yama Sushi has green tea, red bean, and pistachio ice cream. However, the customer favorite is their mochi ice cream which comes in strawberry, vanilla, mango, green tea, chocolate, red bean, and coffee. No matter the flavor you choose, it will be the perfect ending to a tasty meal.
All You Can Eat
The Yama Sushi All You Can Eat option is one of the things that sets them apart from a lot of the other sushi restaurants in Las Vegas. All you can eat is available for lunch and dinner. They also have kid pricing as well.
There are five rules to all you can eat at Yama Sushi. The first rule is that you order little by little so that the items stay fresh. Rule number two is that you must eat the rice and the fish, otherwise, it will be charged a la carte. There is also no sharing unless everyone at the table has chosen all you can eat. Finally, Yama Sushi charges for leftovers to minimize food waste and does not include drinks in their all-you-can-eat pricing.
Location and Hours
You can get this same menu at all three of the Yama Sushi locations. The eastside location is at 1350 E Flamingo Rd in suite 18 and is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. There is also a location in Chinatown at 3909 Spring Mountain Road, which is open late from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. The third location is on the Las Vegas Strip at 3049 S. Las Vegas Blvd in suites 20 and 21 and is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Reservations
With Yama Sushi’s rising popularity, the lines can get long. However, not all of the locations accept reservations. In fact, the only location that accepts reservations is the Strip location. You must call to reserve a table. The other locations are all first-come, first-serve.
