Serrano Vista Cafe

Sometimes, you just need a Wagyu burger, burrito, or a drunken whiskey waffle at 3 am. When the craving strikes, Serrano Vista Cafe at the Palms Casino Resort is open 24 hours on the weekend and almost 24 hours during the week.

We did our own taste testing of Serrano Vista’s menu and want to share our opinion.

Atmosphere

Serrano Vista Cafe offers an elevated diner-style menu, but the ambiance is different from your typical neighborhood diner. There’s definitely a southern California vibe here, with an open atmosphere with bright, welcoming colors and decor that helps to perk customers up a little when they stop by for a middle-of-the-night visit.

Like almost all restaurants in Las Vegas, this place can get really busy and a little noisy at peak times. If you’re grabbing a bite with a group of friends and having a good time, this probably won’t bother you much. If you’re seeking some quiet, make sure to time your visit for when the cafe isn’t as crowded.

Is There More Than One Serrano Vista Cafe?

Serrano Vista Cafe Yaamava Resort

There is another Serrano Vista Cafe that’s located at the Yaamava Resort in Southern California. We’re not sure if the two restaurants are affiliated, but from what we’ve seen, this other location is also a great cafe for eating a delicious meal.

The decor is reminiscent of an orange grove, which is lovely. We noticed differences on the menu, too, but the cobb salad with green goddess dressing had our mouths watering, along with how the selection of steaks from nearby ranchers delighted our tastebuds just thinking about them.

The next time we’re in Southern California, we’ll need to check them out.

Menu

Breakfast Menu

While they don’t serve its full breakfast menu all day, it’s still arguably the most popular among many guests who visit. They offer a good variety of dishes to complement anyone’s flavor profile.

We did notice that if you’re vegetarian, there are enough dishes on the menu that you could make work. However, the offerings for anyone following a vegan diet are pretty slim.

Healthy Starts

This portion of the menu is where you’ll find healthy eats for those of you who don’t want to blow your diet or succumb to less-than-healthy habits while in Las Vegas.

The offerings include oatmeal with healthy toppings, yogurt parfaits with berries and crystalized ginger, a smoked salmon bagel plate, and fresh seasonal berries and fruit that are served in a coconut shell.

Griddle

These are the favorites that everyone knows and loves. French toast, pancakes, Belgian waffles, choice of toppings like sliced bananas or chocolate chips, and if you’re craving something a little less sweet – the Vegas chicken and waffle offers the partnering of Vegas hot sauce and maple syrup.

Eggs

For many, including us, the egg is the star of the meal at breakfast. There are a few options for three-egg omelets with country potatoes and toast, a steak and eggs dish that features two eggs any style, flat iron steak, tomato gratin, and bernaise sauce.

We’re also fans of the croque madame, crushed avocado toast with a poached egg added, and the loco moco, which is a Wagyu patty with rice, brown gravy, and egg.

Price

Breakfast is affordable, especially for Las Vegas. On average, you’ll spend about $15 per entree, give or take a couple of dollars. Of course, there are outliers to this, but most dishes fall within this price range.

All Day Menu

Serrano Vista Café is a good, casual place to enjoy lunch or dinner, with a great variety of options to choose from. There seems to be something for almost everyone. They also have a full bar, so you can enjoy your favorite cocktail or glass of wine with your meal.

Appetizers

We think that Serrano Vista Cafe offers a decent selection of appetizers – more than you would probably expect when you first walk in and sit down. We were expecting the basics like chicken wings and mozzarella cheese sticks or maybe a basket of home fries with a special dipping sauce. However, we were pleasantly surprised.

The General Taos Cauliflower Bites with chili mayo and blistered shishito peppers are a high level of yum, as is the Quesabirria, which is the fusion of a quesadilla and burria taco. There’s also poke nachos, calamari, artichoke dip, hummus, and more.

Salads & Soups

You’re not going to find a lot of unique dishes on this portion of the menu, but we found all the food to be made with fresh produce and high-quality ingredients.

Our favorites are the Mediterranean salad (with extra feta cheese!) and the spicy Thai salad. The soups are good, but nothing out of the ordinary. There’s chicken noodle, a soup of the day, and on Friday, they offer clam chowder.

Sandwiches

We think sandwiches are a great meal; whether it’s lunch or dinner, you’re talking about. The sandwiches at Serrano Vista Café are delicious and filling.

A favorite is Argentinian steak dip, which is piled with steak, chimichurri sauce, jalapeno, carmelized onion, Swiss cheese, and then a dressing of chimichurri aioli to finish this beast. The tomato and avocado waffle melt is also really good and has a Southern California classics vibe.

If you just want a really good burger, step up to the SV Wagyu Burger, which is a half pound and topped with fresh lettuce, onion, tomato, cheddar cheese, and A1 sauce.

Entrees

The selection of entrees isn’t huge at Serrano Vista Café, but they do offer a nice variety of comfort food classics and new innovative dishes.

An example would be the drunken meatloaf, with bacon, onion, rainbow carrots, and red wine gravy. The blacked Mahi tacos are also great, and we like that you can substitute blacked jackfruit for the fish.

Desserts

What’s life without dessert? Honestly, we’ve stopped at Serrano Vista Café just to indulge in their dessert menu. They offer floats, tiramisu, lemongrass creme brulee, strawberry rhubarb crumble, chocolate cake, and other desserts that are just over the top.

Price

Most entrees for lunch and dinner are under $20, and appetizers or lighter meals are mostly $15 or less. Desserts are mostly $11 or under.

Late Night Menu

Sometimes, you just really need something to eat in the wee hours of the morning. Serrano Vista Café offers a limited selection of cuisine, and while the offerings are less than what you get at other times of day, we don’t have any complaints.

Sink your teeth into a burger with organic grass-fed beef or the Serrano Vista Café breakfast with three eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and country toast, or satisfy a comfort food craving for pasta alfredo. And yes, there are desserts, too!

Reviews

Overall, the reviews for Serrano Vista Café at the Palms Hotel & Casino are good. The majority of guests have enjoyed the delicious, fresh food, attentive service, and the fact that this restaurant is open 24 hours most days of the week.

It’s also close to the casino, so it offers a convenient location for a morning pastry and cup of coffee or a warm, satisfying meal later in the day.

Some complaints centered around the quality of food, like home fries that were hard or not prepared to their liking, meals that seemed more Denny’s quality than a nice cafe in a Las Vegas hotel, and there were a couple of mentions that the bar sometimes closes, so you can’t always get alcoholic drinks with your meal. We’ve never personally experienced that.

There were also numerous compliments on the decor, from cloth napkins at each table to the bright and airy California feel. A couple of people said the wait was a bit long, and they decided to go elsewhere, but typically it’s not that bad.

Dress Code

Dress Code

The dress code at Serrano Vista Café is casual. Anything that you would wear to walk around the casino would most likely be suitable to wear. Steer clear of swimwear and pajamas, and you should be ok.
