Super Frico

Super Frico Italian American Psychedelic is a restaurant from the great minds that brought you Atomic Saloon, Spiegelworld from founder Ross Mollison. Sounding sort of like the song from Rick James, Superfrico does have a Super Freak vibe.

Spiegelworld shows are very well-known, but after seeing supper clubs that have started to pop up, they decided it was time to start their own supper club.

That is where Superfrico was born, a restaurant that hits all the senses with entertainment, performers that come to your table, music bumping throughout, art adorning the walls all around, and an environment that is just plain fun.

About Super Frico Las Vegas

Superfrico Italian American Psychedelic is divided into multiple sections, each with its own theme. There’s the Ski Lodge, one of the cozy cocktail areas; The Studio, which is the main bar; The Artery, which is one of the dining rooms that looks like Lisa Frank went wild; and many more. There is always something new to uncover at Superfrico Las Vegas.

There is an A-team at the helm with Executive Chef Mitch Emge, General Manager Natasha Gonzalez, Niko Novick, the Executive of Beverage, and Pizza Czar Anthony Falco.

Since there isn’t a great way to explain what we have experienced at Superfrico other than totally otherworldly, we will give you their own description of the vibe:

SuperFrico Las Vegas

“Dare we say Superfrico is Las Vegas’ most Las Vegiest place? A veritable smorgasbord for the senses, expect wall-to-wall eye candy and impromptu amusements across a series of imaginatively-themed, infinitely explorable bars, lounges, and dining rooms, all with a bumpin’ soundtrack courtesy of the Strip’s only all-vinyl, all the time DJ. Come for a bite, then go off-menu, party down, and stay all night…”

Though there are no showings of OPM, the show next door, early in the week, you can still get performers that come to your table on a Monday night, and since they encourage you to stay late, the late-night finales are quite fun.

Alright, now, onto the food!

Menu

The menu is both inspired by and breaks all the rules of Old-World Italian and Italian-American cuisine.

For starters, on the menu, you have the option of some delicious small plates.

The most popular is the Tableside Mozzarella, which is pulled and stretched tableside and served with marinated tomatoes, Puccia bread, salumi, roasted peppers, warmed olives, and fresh basil. Though it is recommended for four people or more, if you are a true cheese lover, don’t be surprised at how fast it disappears!

Another starter favorite along the same lines is the Fried Mozzarella made with house mozzarella and coated in sourdough breadcrumbs. It is truly the attention to detail on this one that takes it from just some mozzarella sticks to melty deliciousness that is out of this world.

You can also get lighter starters like Grilled Oysters, Hamachi Crudo, and Smoked Beef Carpaccio.

Whether you like to have a salad to start your meal or as your entree, there are plenty of great choices available. You can try the Arugula Salad with a local honey vinaigrette, a Tomato Burrata Salad, or the Little Gem with a Calabrian ranch. They are all flavorful and fresh, so you can’t go wrong.

When it comes to main courses and entrees, the variety gets even bigger with multiple pizzas, pasta, mains, steaks, and sides to pick from.

We have to start by talking about the iconic square pizzas. After all, Chef Anthony Falco is an International Pizza Czar. They are made from scratch and take longer to cook, so you’ll have a bit of a wait when you order one, but trust us, it is totally worth it.

We like the Pistachio Mortadella Square with a base of pistachio pesto and topped with house mozzarella, house stracciatella, mortadella, parmigiano reggiano, and pistachio. It is unique, salty, savory, and bright all at the same time.

However, OG Square, which is their version of cheese pizza, and the Ultimate Pepperoni Square, their pepperoni pizza, are amazing as well.

The pasta choices are top-notch, too, with selections such as Shrimp Scampi Spaghetti and Beef Cheek Rigatoni.

On the main dishes section of the menu, you have to try the famous Chicken Parm, a classic Italian American food taken to the next level with sourdough breading, a delightful spicy marinara, a fresh basil oil, and all the crispy cheese you could want.

For those who like a good steak, the Tomahawk is great to share, or the Filet Mignon with a bone marrow sauce is tender and decadent. You can also add roasted bone marrow, Calabrian butter poached lobster tail, or summer truffle to any of their steak selections, which is yet another way to punch up the flavor party even further.

On the side, you have options of Roasted Mushrooms, Warm Brussels, Polenta, Whipped Potato, Crispy Rosemary Potato, or Grilled Asparagus. Our favorite? The Warm Brussels and Crispy Rosemary Potato.

You can’t have an iconic meal without something sweet to round it out. The Tiramisu or Chocolate Mousse is always a solid choice, but the Banana Walnut Tartufo or the Olive Oil Cake is truly special. The Sourdough Crumble gelato is awesome, too, with a lovely combination of strawberry, vanilla, caramelized breadcrumb, sea salt, and olive oil.

Gluten-Free & Vegetarian Options

Despite all the pizza, pasta, and proteins, our gluten-free, vegetarian, and even vegan friends are not left out at Superfrico.

Gluten-free friends can start with a Hamachi Crudo, enjoy the Roasted Sea Scallops, Eggplant Parmesan Rollatini, or any of the steaks for a main, and a side of Warm Brussels or Polenta. All of these options are gluten-free and totally tasty.

For our vegetarian friends, there are too many options to list them all, but a few selections include any of the salads, the OG Square pizza or the Mushroom Mogul Round pizza, Brown Butter Gnocchi, and any of the sides except the Grilled Asparagus since it has a guanciale vinaigrette.

Now, if you are a full vegan, the options are a bit limited, but you can still have a three-course meal. Start with the Sicilian Salad, then dive into the Trapanese Pesto Gemelli, and round it out with the Roasted Coconut Panna Cotta or Roasted Pineapple Sorbetto.

Cocktails

Leo Robitschek, a James Beard Award Winner, is dubbed the Principal Pourer at Superfrico, and he is creating some cool drinks that are out of this world. Each of the venue’s four bars has its own cocktail list curated by Robitschek, and there is an onsite retail store called Bottle-O where you can get house-blended bottles and flasks.

To give you an idea of what sort of drinks you can find, let’s talk about some options. There are beers, cocktails, cocktails for two, mocktails, and rare single-barrel whiskies that are bottled exclusively for Spiegelworld.

One of our favorites on the cocktail lineup is the Emma-Renae, lovingly labeled the penicillin of our generation, and for a mocktail, we like the Peter Pieper, an interesting combination of white balsamic, pineapple, passionfruit, and black pepper.

Reviews

So, with an impressive menu, how is Superfrico rated? Well, overall, really well. Some have bestowed the title of their new favorite restaurant. In some reviews, Secret Pizza, another Vegas favorite pizza place, is thrown under the bus in favor of Super Frico’s pizza.

However, it isn’t all good. Despite having 4.3 stars out of 5 on Google, it seems that there have been a few problems in the last 6 months. Many guests are reporting a blip in service as far as attitudes and a dramatic increase in price.

Though we can’t exactly say why there have been instances of less-than-pleasant service, the pricing isn’t surprising, considering the cost of ingredients has increased across the country as a whole. Even for the Las Vegas Strip and the totally amazing experience at Superfrico, we do have to say that it seems quite expensive.

With all that being said, Super Frico in Las Vegas is in a category all its own, and to truly know what it is all about, it’s something you really have to experience for yourself! Just keep these few points in mind before you go.
