Best Upscale Mexican Restaurants
Javier’s at Aria
Javier’s at Aria offers authentic Mexican cuisine in a fine dining setting. Javier’s offers a level of seduction and cultural immersion that many other Mexican restaurants in Vegas don’t. The atmosphere balances lively and intimate, and authentic artwork and carvings make dining at Javier’s an incredibly immersive experience.
The menu at Javier’s is full of fresh, vibrant flavors. A favorite is the Enchiladas Pueblo, with Maine lobster enchiladas with garlic, butter, and tomatillo sauce. A second favorite is the Enchiladas Poblanas, which are a type of mole enchiladas that are mouth-watering and delicious. While we obviously enjoy the enchiladas, their menu is full of other types of delicious, exquisitely prepared dishes. The steaks and fresh wild scallops are divine.
Javier’s is located at the Aria on the Las Vegas Strip. They’re open daily from 11 am until midnight. Javier’s is considered an upscale Mexican restaurant, so business casual or elegant casual attire is required.
Casa Playa
Casa Playa, located in Wynn Las Vegas, is where you can find authentic Mexican coastal cuisine with fresh and vibrant flavors. Chef Sarah Thomspon is the culinary mastermind behind Casa Playa, and every detail of the menu was designed to tantalize your taste buds and leave you dreaming of more.
Begin your culinary journey with the house favorite of a Mexican Blue Shrimp Ceviche salad with delicate watermelon radish and cucumber. If you’re a lover of fresh seafood, we suggest you indulge yourself and splurge on the Seafood platter, which features west coast oyster, lobster tail, scallops, king crab legs, and shrimp cocktail. If seafood isn’t your thing, the Wagyu Carne Asada Tacos are delish.
For the entree, the whole roasted pork carnitas, which is served to the entire table, are incredible. They’re prepared with smoked agave syrup and served with chipotle slaw and this wonderful charred cucumber salsa. If you’re not in the mood to share a meal with the table and prefer an individual entree, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Every dish is truly delicious.
Casa Playa is located adjacent to the Encore Beach Club at the Wynn. The dress code is casual chic, and they ask that you not bring children under the age of five to dine in the restaurant. Border Grill
The Border Grill is probably one of the most famous spots to enjoy traditional Mexican dishes on the Las Vegas Strip. Located in Mandalay Bay, the Border Grill by Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger offers two floors of al fresco dining that overlooks
A tour of the menu has us craving the plantain empanadas with organic black beans as a starter. Then the short rib enchiladas with homemade fresh corn tortillas, or maybe the mini chile Relleno and a bowl of the tortilla soup. But then again, it’s really difficult to resist the Yucatan Pork. The Border Grill also offers a vegan version of their Rellenos, with are equally yummy. For a side, don’t pass up the street corn Exquite with cotija cheese, fresh lime, and Mexican crema.

El Dorado Cantina
The El Dorado Cantina is one of the award winning Mexacan Restauraznts in Las Vegas. Their food is known for being some of the best Mexican eats you can find in the city. Part of this is the chef’s culinary mastery, but it also has a lot to do with their commitment to quality ingredients.
El Dorado Cantina uses hormone-free meats, sustainable seafood, and organic ingredients whenever possible in its dishes. It pays off because their commitment really shines through in the taste of each dish.
For an appetizer, we suggest the tableside guacamole, that’s served with fresh tortilla chips, and also the chicken taquitos. For entrees, some of our favorites are shrimp tacos, spinach poblano enchiladas, and carne asada. There’s a lengthy cocktail menu to peruse and some sweets. Come hungry and prepare to leave feeling a little stuffed.
Hussong’s Cantina – Mandalay Bay
Hussong’s Cantina Las Vegas location at
Some of our favorite Mexican food on the menu include the Silver & Black burrito stuffed with your choice of meats and other deliciousness. The final product weighs a whopping three pounds! If you’re in the mood for tacos, the Baja Fish Tacos with pickled red onions and chipotle aioli is amazing. We also really enjoyed the chicken enchiladas in corn tortillas and smothered in sauce, a special Mexican cheese blend, and sour cream.
We also really like that Hussong’s Cantina offers a vegan menu that’s more than just a couple of items. Instead, they’ve reimagined practically every type of dish on their traditional menu and recreated it to be aligned with vegan standards. They even managed to create vegan huevos rancheros that are out of this world.

Casa Don Juan is located on Main Street in Downtown Las Vegas. This Mexican restaurant is perfect for groups of friends and families that want to enjoy great Mexican food in a fun, warm environment.
The menu at Casa Don Juan is large enough that you might have some trouble deciding how you will indulge yourself. The Puerco En Chile Verde is always a great choice. You can join them every Monday through Thursday from 3 pm until 6 pm for drink specials and baskets full of warm tortilla chips and freshly made salsa. Casa Don Juan closes every evening at 8 pm, but that doesn’t mean you can’t slip in for an after-dinner margarita before you head out to explore the Fremont Street Experience at night!
Nacho Daddy Downtown
If you’re hanging out on Fremont Street and suddenly crave a heaping pile of nachos, it’s probably the aroma of Nacho Daddy wafting through the air that’s to blame. If you’re wondering if their nachos are really worth all the fuss you hear, let us start by saying that their motto is never to have a dry chip.
They make all their own sauces in-house, and everything is super fresh. Of course, nachos are the star of the show here, with a selection on the menu that includes traditional, specialty, and exotic nachos. How about grilled filet mignon nachos with all the toppings? Or maybe lobster & crab nachos? If something more traditional is what you crave from your nacho platter, the fajita nachos with seared bell peppers are excellent. There are even caramel apple nachos if you want to carry the nacho theme all the way through dessert.
Of course, there are other masterpieces on the menu, but we’ll leave that up to you to explore for yourself. Nacho Daddy opens early at 8 am and stays open late until 2 am during the week and at 3 am on weekends to satisfy your late-night nacho and Mexican cuisine cravings in Las Vegas.

Bomb Tacos
Bomb Tacos is one of those lesser-known gems in Las Vegas that has developed a cult following among the locals. Instead, the focus is only on the food, and these tacos are as good as it gets.
At Bomb Tacos, you have the choice of meats and seafood to enjoy on your street tacos. You choose the fillings, with options like chicken, steak, pork, tongue, tripe, head, and sausage. Their signature tacos draw crowds, and they’re open 24 hours a day to satisfy your taco cravings.
Salud Mexican Bistro
Salud Mexican Bistro offers plenty of great family recipes on their menu, but we had to give them a spot on their list for their tasty street tacos. The ingredients are super fresh, and you can choose between carne asada, barbacoa, pork belly, al pastor, and pollo asada carnitas. Guests can choose a generous plate of three tacos, plus rice and beans, or they can go straight for just the tacos and get a plate filled with five of them!
If tacos aren’t really what you’re in the mood for, there’s no shortage of great Mexican dishes on the menu at Salud Mexican Bistro. For appetizers, we can’t get enough of the street corn chorizo stuffed jalapenos and the asada fries. For the main course, we’re big fans of the duck carnitas with berry jalapeno jelly, cilantro rice, and black beans. The salmon with coconut sauce is another huge favorite.

Most Fun Mexican Restaurant
Juan’s Flaming Fajitas Canitna
With a name like Juan’s Flaming Fajitas Cantina, how can you expect this place to be anything but fun? As the name implies, it’s the fajitas that are a big hit here. A big part of the attraction is how delicious they are, but there’s also the super fun presentation of these fajitas with flames shooting off of them being delivered to your table.
Even if you’re not in the mood for fajitas, the menu offers lots of other choices. The taco salad is always a hit, as is the chicharrones with crispy pork that’s simmered in salsa casera and served with pinto beans, onion, fresh cilantro, and either flour or corn tortillas.

Casa Calavera – Virgin Hotels Las Vegas
Casa Calavera is located in Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, and they’re one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for an atmosphere that’s just as fun and incredible as the food. The concept behind Casa Calavera is to be a meeting spot where the social energy is vibrant and fun and where the traditional Mexican dishes satisfy your soul.
Casa Calavera has an incredible vibe, and they have a live Mariachi band that plays every Friday – and yes, they will find their way to your table. Expect to have some fun and some laughs, and leave with a smile on your face.
Some of our favorites on the menu are the roasted corn that’s served street corn style, the chicken con mole, and the avocado & roasted corn taquitos. Don’t forget to check out the margaritas while you’re there!
